BELLEVILLE — A power of attorney is suing nursing home operators for allegedly failing to properly care for a patient who allegedly developed several injuries after falling.

Crystal Buse, as power of attorney for Margaret Freeman, filed a complaint on Nov. 30 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Petersen Health Group LLC, et al., alleging they violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between May 12, 2017 and Nov. 6, 2017, Freeman suffered multiple falls at Lebanon Care Center. On Nov. 8, 2017, she was transferred to Memorial Hospital where she was allegedly diagnosed with urinary retention, fecal impaction, acute kidney injury, a urinary tract infection and dehydration.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to adequately staff the nursing facility with qualified and licensed medical professionals and failed to ensure the safety of the residents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus attorney's fees, costs and all further relief as the court may deem fair and reasonable. She is represented by Kenneth B. Beljanski and Jaye R. Lindsay of Brown & Brown LLP in Fairview Heights.
