Car accident 14

BELLEVILLE — A man is suing a driver for allegedly causing a St. Clair County collision.

Carl Michell filed a complaint on Nov. 28 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Lance Travis, alleging he failed to exercise reasonable care in operating his vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 24, he was operating a vehicle at or near the intersection of Missouri Avenue and 18th Street when Travis allegedly caused a collision.

Michell claims he suffered injuries resulting in pain and suffering and was forced to seek medical treatment.

The plaintiff holds Travis responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep proper control of his vehicle, failed to maintain a vigilant lookout and failed to reduce speed to avoid the collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs and all other relief that is just and equitable. He is represented by Brady M. McAninch and John T. Hipskind of HM Attorneys in Belleville.
