EDWARDSVILLE — A man's wrongful death suit accuses several healthcare providers of failing to regularly perform neurological checks prior to his father's death.

Tony Rujawitz, as independent executor of the estate of Daniel Rujawitz, filed a complaint on Nov. 27 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Anderson Hospital, et al, alleging they negligently deviated from the standard of medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 3, Daniel Rujawitz saw various healthcare professionals for medical care and treatment. The suit alleges they failed to timely stop Coumadin and failed to admit the decedent for observation and neurological checks every two hours. As a result, Daniel Rujawitz died on June 6.

Tony Rujawitz alleges he has been permanently deprived of the decedent's love, guidance and support.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of not less than $75,000, plus costs. He is represented by Samantha S. Unsell of Keefe, Keefe & Unsell PC in Belleville.
