BELLEVILLE—A patient is suing healthcare providers for allegedly causing him to suffer injuries to his sphincter.
Brian S. Fine filed a complaint on Nov. 9 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Joel Slaton MC, Memorial Hospital, et. al., alleging they failed to use the degree of skill and learning ordinarily used by well qualified healthcare providers.
According to the complaint, the defendants provided medical services to the plaintiff on Sept. 19, 2017. Fine alleges the defendants failed to obtain a CT scan, failed to obtain urine cultures and clotting studies and negligently misled a cystoscopy.
As a result, Fine claims he sustained injuries to his sphincter, causing him to suffer incontinence, impotency and subsequent surgeries.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by Joseph A. Bartholomew of Cook, Shevlin, Ysursa, Brauer, & Bartholomew in Belleville.
