Woman alleges injuries from fight at Belleville sports bar

BELLEVILLE — A customer is suing Schatze's Sports Bar & Grill alleging she was injured in a bar fight.

Cindy Long filed a complaint on Nov. 13 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court, against Schatze's Sports Bar & Grill Inc,. alleging that the defendant failed to keep the facility safe for customers.

The plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 26, 2017, she was at he defendant's premises in Belleville when a fight broke out. She allegedly suffered serious and permanent injuries that resulted in pain, mental anguish, lost wages and medical costs. 

The plaintiff holds Schatze's Sports Bar & Grill responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate security and safety measures to protect its patrons.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs and all other relief that is just and equitable. 

She is represented by Mark C. Scoggins, Clay B. St. Clair, Anthony P. Gilbreth and Natalie Sager Steppig of Crowder & Scoggins Ltd. in Columbia.
