EDWARDSVILLE — A man and his son are suing a motorist for allegedly running a red light and causing a collision.

C.K., a minor, by James Robert Kielty Jr, his father and next friend, and James Robert Kielty Jr filed a complaint on Oct. 11 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jacob R. Bell, alleging he failed to maintain proper control of his vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Feb. 25, 2017, the defendant failed to stop at a red light and caused a collision near the intersection of Governors Parkway and Troy Road.

As a result, the plaintiffs claim they sustained severe injuries, including friction burns, cuts, abrasions and lacerations.

The plaintiffs hold Bell responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield the right of way and negligently entered the intersection and caused a collision.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs of the suit. They are represented by Steven D. Davis of Torhoerman Law LLC in Edwardsville.
