EDWARDSVILLE — A Collinsville law firm is suing an insurer for allegedly failing to compensate the firm following a client's collision claim.

Giacoletto Law Firm filed a complaint on Oct. 5 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Country Mutual Insurance Co., also known as Country Preferred Insurance Co., alleging the insurer breached the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, the firm alleges that on Dec. 22, 2014, its client, Linda Stehman was injured in an collision due to the negligence of a third party. At the time of the occurrence, Stehman's insurance policy issued by Country Mutual was in full force and effect. However, the law firm alleges the insurer refused to compensate the plaintiff for work done in creating the common fund.

The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000 but less than $75,000, plus costs and all further relief as the court deems just and proper. Giacoletto Law Firm is represented by Steven Giacoletto.
