Driver, passenger sue over Alton collision

Lawsuits
Car accident 40

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist and a passenger are suing another motorist for allegedly causing a collision in Alton.

Willie Lanfair and Olivia Lanfair filed a complaint on Oct. 5 in the Madison County Circuit Court against John Catlett, alleging he negligently drove his vehicle at a speed greater than reasonable.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Jan 4, 2017, the defendant caused a collision near the intersection of North Rodgers Avenue and College Avenue in Alton.

The Lanfairs claim they sustained severe and permanent injuries both internally and externally.

The plaintiffs hold Catlett responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain careful lookout, failed to yield right of way and failed to take evasive actions at the first appearance of danger.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment in their favor for damages of more than $50,000, plus costs. They are represented by Kenneth B. Beljanski of Brown & Brown LLP in Fairview Heights.
