Man owes nearly $1 million on four loans, bank says

EDWARDSVILLE — A bank brought a lawsuit against a man for a nearly $1 million alleged debt.

First National Bank in Stanton filed a complaint on Aug. 28 in Madison County Circuit Court against Donald J. Portell, alleging the borrower is in default.

According to the complaint, the defendant owes the balance on four loans totaling more than $963,000. The bank alleges the defendant has failed to make payments despite repeated demands.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for $963,697.57, plus expenses, attorney's fees and costs. The bank is represented by Joel A. Kunin and Teri L. Havron of Goldenberg Heller & Antognoli PC in Edwardsville.
