BELLEVILLE — A woman claims a physician did not property diagnose her endometriosis, causing a hysterectomy.

Lauren Gross and Joseph Crowell filed a complaint on Sept. 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dr. Sekou Kelsey and Women's Care of Southern Illinois PC.

According to the complaint, Gross alleges the defendants did not properly diagnose her endometriosis. She alleges Kelsey removed her right ovary without explaining the risks. As a result, she continued to experience debilitating pain from her endometriosis, which required a total hysterectomy, the complaint states.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages of more than $50,000 each. They are represented by Lloyd M. Cueto of Law Office of Lloyd M. Cueto in Belleville and Michael J. Gras and Christopher Cueto of Law Office of Christopher Cueto Ltd. in Belleville.
