EDWARDSVILLE —  The father of a man who died after he was hit by a motorist while walking along Fosterburg Road is suing the driver.

Casey J. Willis, as special administrator of the estate of Casey J. Willis II, filed a complaint on Sept. 7 in  Madison County Circuit Court against Sheleatha R. Riddlespriger.

According to the complaint, Casey Willis II was walking in Alton along Fosterburg Road near the intersection with Emmie L. Kaus Lane on Aug. 8 when the defendant struck him with her 2003 Ford Escape XLT. He later died as a result of his injuries. The plaintiff incurred medical and funeral expenses, the complaint states.

The plaintiff alleges Riddlespriger was speeding and did not attempt to avoid a collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in a sum exceeding $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by Rodney D. Caffey and Ralph J. Mendelson of the Caffey Law Firm LLC in Godfrey.
