First National Bank in Staunton seeks more than $1.89 million on alleged debt

EDWARDSVILLE — A business loan of nearly $2 million may land a Madison County resident in court.

First National Bank in Staunton filed a complaint on Aug. 30 in Madison County Circuit Court against Vern Van Hoy. 

According to the complaint, Nature's Second Chance Hauling took out a loan from First National Bank, but defaulted on the account. Van Hoy is listed as the guarantor of payment, the complaint states. Van Hoy owes more than $1.89 million on the loan. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in the amount of the loan with interest and costs. The bank is represented by Joel A. Kunin of Goldenberg Heller & Antognoli PC in Edwardsville.
