BELLEVILLE — A woman alleges she was injured when she slipped and fell on ice while entering Metro Inflatable in O'Fallon.

Sharla Smith filed a complaint on Aug. 24 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Metro Inflatable LLC, alleging the store operator failed to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 21, 2016, she was a patron at the defendant's store in O'Fallon when she slipped and fell on ice while entering the building.

She claims she sustained injuries resulting in pain and suffering, disfigurement, and medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds Metro Inflatable responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently allowed water to flow onto the pavement and to settle into a depression at the entrance of the building and failed to provide a safe ingress and egress to the premises.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount greater than $75,000, plus costs and all further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Matthew P. Young of The Kuehn, Beasley & Young Law Firm in Belleville.
