Car accident 02

BELLEVILLE — A motorist and passenger allege they suffered injuries in a collision on Illinois Route 159.

Leon D. Troutt and Goldie A. Troutt filed a complaint on Aug. 14 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Tyler Barnes, alleging he breached his duty to exercise due care and caution so as not to injure others.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Aug. 20, 2016, they were in a motor vehicle traveling southbound on Illinois Route 159 at its intersection with Market Place when Barnes allegedly struck the rear of their vehicle. They claim they sustained severe personal injuries, resulting in medical expenses, pain, suffering and disability.

The plaintiffs hold Barnes responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain careful lookout and failed to take proper evasive actions to avoid a collision.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages within the jurisdictional limits of the court. They are represented by Paul V. Bishop II of Olney.
