BELLEVILLE — A pothole in a masonic lodge's parking lot prompted a lawsuit by an East St. Louis resident.

Sandra Griffin filed the complaint on July 27 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Illinois and East Lodge Number 504.

According to the complaint, Griffin stepped into a potlhole on the property of East Lodge 504 and fell. She suffered injuries to her shoulder, arm, hip and femur bone, the complaint states. Griffin claims the lodge failed to repair the pothole or warn about the danger.

Griffin seeks a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by James R. Williams of Williams, Caponi & Associates in Belleville.
