EDWARDSVILLE – A pedestrian alleges Granite City failed to repair a deteriorated sidewalk that caused her to fall.

Rosalinda Carrasco filed a complaint on June 20 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Granite City, alleging it breached its duty to maintain the public sidewalk in a reasonably proper and safe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 30, 2017, she was injured while walking on the defendant's sidewalk at approximately 2659 State St. in Granite City. The suit states the sidewalk was uneven, causing the plaintiff to fall.

As a result, Carrasco claims she suffered injuries to her body as a whole, loss of gainful occupation and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Granite City failed to repair the sidewalk and failed to warn pedestrians of the existing danger.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $50,000, plus costs of court.

She is represented by Daniel G. Broombaugh of Caraway, Fisher & Broombaugh PC in Belleville.
