EDWARDSVILLE – A patient of a Granite City, Illinois hospital alleges complications from a surgery caused him to lose vision in his left eye.

Bryan P. Kelly filed a complaint on June 18 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Granite City Illinois Hospital Co. LLC, doing business as Gateway Regional Medical Center, et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 17, 2016, his bladder was lacerated during an exploratory laparotomy surgery performed by defendant Paul Pace at Gateway Regional Medical Center. As a result, he alleges he suffered loss vision of his left eye and incurred medical expenses, pain and suffering and diminution in his quality of life.

The plaintiff holds Granite City Illinois Hospital Co. LLC, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly assess his medical condition and failed to properly monitor post-surgical care.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit. He is represented by Joseph H. Leskera of Leskera Law Firm in Collinsville.
