USF Holding employee alleges racial discrimination

EDWARDSVILLE — An African-American truck driver is suing his employer for allegedly subjecting him to racial discrimination and a hostile work environment.

Brian Bland filed a complaint on June 6 in the Madison County Circuit Court against USF Holding Inc. and Christopher Gula, alleging that the defendants violated the Illinois Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendants' employees made racist jokes and used racial slurs against him at work. 

Bland alleges the defendants subjected him to discrimination and harassment due to his race.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks no less than $50,000 in damages, plus attorney's fees and costs. 

He is represented by John H. Leskera of Leskera Law Firm in Collinsville.
