General Electric Company, others allegedly failed to warn woman about dangers of working around asbestos

Asbestos 04

BELLEVILLE — An estate administrator is suing Borg-Warner Morse TEC LLC, General Electric Company and several other companies for alleged negligence.

George Nichols, special administrator of the estate Pauline Nichols, filed a complaint on May 25 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants failed to exercise reasonable care and caution for the safety of others.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that at various times during Pauline Nichols' career, she allegedly was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers that allegedly came from products that were manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by the defendants.

In 2015, Pauline Nichols allegedly learned that she had developed asbestos-induced cancer. She later died, according to the complaint. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly negligently including asbestos fibers in their products when adequate substitutes were available and for allegedly failing to provide Pauline Nichols with adequate warnings and instructions about the dangers of working around products that contained asbestos.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages in an amount that exceeds $50,000, plus any further relief that the the court deems just and equitable. She is represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
