BELLEVILLE — An estate representative is suing CBS Corporation, Union Carbide Corp. and several other companies for alleged negligence.
Toni R. Code-Jones, special representative of the estate of Thomas R. Jones, filed a complaint on May 17 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants failed to exercise due care and caution for the safety of others.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that at various times during Jones' life, he allegedly was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers that were contained in certain products that the defendants allegedly manufactured, sold, distributed or installed. In 2016, Jones allegedly learned that he had developed asbestos-induced lung cancer. He allegedly died in 2017.
The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly including asbestos fibers in their products even though they allegedly knew that asbestos fibers are toxic.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages in an amount that exceeds $50,000. She is represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
