Pedestrian allegedly hit on Illinois Route 157

Car accident 27

BELLEVILLE — A pedestrian alleges she was injured when a motorist hit her as she walked on Illinois Route 157.

Ariana Jones filed a complaint on May 7 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against DeAngelo Franklin, East St. Louis Police Department and the City of East St. Louis, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 11, 2017, she was a pedestrian on Illinois Route 157 near its intersection with Tucker Drive when she was struck by a vehicle driven by Franklin, who was an employee of East St. Louis.

As a result, Jones claims she suffered multiple injuries to her body and other damages in excess of $50,000.

The plaintiff alleges Franklin failed to yield right of way, failed to pay proper attention on the roadway and failed to use evasive actions to avoid hitting the plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount exceeding $50,000, plus court costs and all other relief deemed proper and just.

She is represented by Alan G. Pirtle and Lisa Tsacoumangos of Brown & Crouppen PC in St. Louis.
