EDWARDSVILLE — A man has filed a lawsuit against a vehicle driver and owner, claiming insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries in a crash in Roxana.

William Woodruff filed a complaint April 6 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Aaron Leggett and Rebecca Leggett alleging that Rebecca Leggett negligently entrusted her vehicle to Aaron Leggett, a careless driver.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 11, 2016, he was traveling in the west lane of Illinois Route 143 when Aaron Leggett's vehicle collided with the plaintiff's vehicle. Woodruff claims he suffered injuries to numerous parts of his body that resulted in medical and pharmaceutical expenses, lost wages and loss of earning capacity. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because Aaron Leggett allegedly breached his duty to exercise reasonable care by not keeping a proper lookout and by not using evasive maneuvers to avoid an accident.

The plaintiff seeks a judgment against the defendants in an amount less than $50,000, costs of court and any other relief that is just and proper. He is represented by Micah S. Summers of Walton Telken Foster LLC in Edwardsville.
