Motorist sues driver, vehicle owner over South Bluff Road collision

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is suing a driver and vehicle owner following a collision on South Bluff Road.

Bridget Patrick filed a complaint on March 28 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Kayla Wegner and Stephen Wegner, alleging Kayla Wegner failed to use ordinary care to avoid collision.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 11, 2016, she was driving a 2015 Nissan Versa traveling southbound on South Bluff Road near its intersection with Caseyville Road. Kayla Wegner was driving a Nissan Altima owned by Stephen Wegner when she allegedly struck the rear of Patrick's vehicle. 

Patrick claims she suffered bodily injuries, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement and loss of income. 

The plaintiff alleges Kayla Wegner failed to maintain safe distance and failed to be attentive while driving.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of not less than $50,000, plus costs incurred for this action.
