Man allegedly failed to provide documents of authenticity for classic Oldsmobile

BELLEVILLE — A man who purchased a classic 1970 Oldsmobile 442 is suing the seller for failing to provide documents of authenticity.

Mark Davinroy filed a complaint on March 20 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Ed Schollmeyer, alleging he failed to provide authenticity documents.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 14, 2014, he agreed to buy the defendant's 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 for $130,000.

However, Davinroy claims the defendant failed to provide documents verifying the authenticity of the vehicle despite repeated demands.

As a result, the plaintiff suffered reduction in the fair market value of the vehicle of over $50,000 without authenticating documents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order directing the defendant to pay the plaintiff the overpayment of more than $50,000, plus punitive damages and all other relief that is just and equitable.

He is represented by Brian D. Flynn of Flynn Guymon & Garavalia in Belleville.
