EDWARDSVILLE — A shopper is suing Best Buy after she allegedly slipped on ice in the parking lot at the Edwardsville store.
Charlotte Starkey filed a complaint on March 20 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Best Buy Stores LP, Caplaco Management Col., et. al., alleging they failed to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 7, 2016, she was injured when she slipped and fell on the accumulated ice on the parking lot at the Best Buy store in Edwardsville.
As a result, Starkey claims she suffered injuries, incurred medical expenses, lost wages and endured pain and suffering.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to remove ice that had accumulated on the parking lot, failed to barricade the ice to prevent customers from walking across it and failed to provide adequate warning.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action.
She is represented by Jane Unsell of Jane Unsell Attorney at Law in Wood River.
