EDWARDSVILLE — A man claims he was assaulted by an intoxicated patron at Spike's Pub & Grub.

Joseph M. Sintzel filed a complaint on March 5 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Vincint Von Hart LLC, doing business as Spike's Pub & Grub, and Timothy Geitz, alleging Spike's Pub violated the Dram Shop Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 19, 2017, he suffered serious and grievous bodily harm when Geitz punched him in the head and face.

Sintzel claims he endured great pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, incurred medical expenses and lost wages.

The plaintiff alleges Spike's Pub negligently sold, gave and served alcoholic liquor to Geitz, who became intoxicated, and failed to provide adequate security to prevent an assault by another patron.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in excess of $50,000, costs of court, attorney fees, and all other relief deemed just and proper.

He is represented by T. Adam Hoerner of Becker, Hoerner, Thompson & Ysursa PC in Belleville.
