Couple blames husband's lung cancer on asbestos in Honeywell, other companies' products

Asbestos 05

BELLEVILLE – A couple is seeking damages from several companies over allegations that the husband's lung cancer was caused by asbestos exposure.

James Hoadley and Mary Hoadley filed a complaint on Feb. 22 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Crown, Cork and Seal Co. Inc., Honeywell International Inc.; Union Carbide Corp., et al., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that at various times during James Hoadley's work, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by defendants. As a result, the suit states he developed lung cancer, which caused him to be hindered from pursuing his normal course of employment.

The plaintiffs holds the defendants others responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently included asbestos fibers in their products when adequate substitutes.

The plaintiffs seek compensatory damages greater than $50,000. They are represented by Ethan M. Flint and Laci M. Whitley of Flint Law Firm LLC in Edwardsville.
