EDWARDSVILLE – A Godfrey resident is seeking damages from a driver who allegedly ran a red light and caused a collision in Alton.
Christopher E. Thorpe filed a complaint on Dec. 15 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Natalie D. Halliday and Jennifer E. Halliday, alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 2, 2016, he was driving a 2016 Kia Soul northbound on the inside lane of Washington Avenue in Alton when Natalie Halliday, who was driving a 2012 Ford Focus owned by Jennifer Halliday, caused it to crash into the plaintiff's Kia. The suit states the impact caused the plaintiff's vehicle to collide with another vehicle with substantial force.
The plaintiff alleges he sustained serious and permanent injuries to his left knee that resulted in medical expenses, disability and pain and suffering.
The plaintiff alleges Natalie Halliday negligently disobeyed the red stop light and failed to reduce speed in order to avoid a collision.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of no less than $50,000, plus costs of suit and any further relief as justice may require.
He is represented by Roy C. Dripps, Courtney Stirrat, Charles Armbruster and Michael T. Blotevogel of Armbruster, Dripps, Winterscheidt & Blotevogel LLC in Maryville.
