BELLEVILLE — A passenger is suing The Bi-State Development Company after she allegedly suffered injuries while riding in one of the defendant's buses.
Juanita St. Ardor filed a complaint on Nov. 28 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against The Bi-State Development Agency of the Missouri-Illinois Metropolitan District, doing business as Bi-State Development Company, alleging it failed to exercise the highest degree of care to avoid injuries to its passengers.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 4, she was a passenger on a Bi-State bus when its driver carelessly operated the bus and caused her to be injured.
Ardor claims she sustained serious personal injuries resulting in a great deal of anguish and medical expenses.
The plaintiff alleges the defendant's driver operated the bus at a speed greater than reasonable and failed to keep it under proper control.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of at least $50,000, plus costs and any further relief as the court may deem just and proper.
She is represented by Mark C. Scoggins, Clay B. St. Clair and Anthony P. Gilbtreth of Crowder & Scoggins Ltd. in Columbia.
