Widow claims Meridian Village, Bravo Care failed to provide proper care

Medical malpractice 07

EDWARDSVILLE – A Granite City widow alleges two care facilities in Madison County failed to provide adequate medical care to her late husband.

Beverley Manoogian, individually and as executor of the estate of Sam Manoogian, deceased, filed a complaint on Dec. 1 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Meridian Village Association and Bravo Care of Edwardsville Inc., citing the Nursing Home Care Act.

According to the complaint, Sam Manoogian was a resident of the defendants' Meridian Village Care Center from Nov. 15 to Nov. 22, 2016, and at Rosewood Care Center during periods from December 2016 to February 2017. The plaintiff alleges that as a result of the defendants' negligence, Sam Manoogian developed bed sores and decubitus ulcers and was caused to suffer emotional upset, embarrassment, pain and suffering and inconvenience until he died on Feb. 11.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide adequate medical care and reasonable personal care in order to prevent decedent's skin from breaking down.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages that are fair and reasonable, plus litigation costs and attorney's fees.

She is represented by Edward J. Szewczyk of Callis, Papa & Szewczyk PC in Granite City and Casper S. Nighohossian of Law Offices of Casper S. Nighohossian in Granite City.
