Woman sues HSHS Holy Family Hospital, doctor over brother's death

EDWARDSVILLE – A woman alleges the negligence of a physician and medical entities caused her brother's death.

Kim Lugge, as administrator of the estate of Kent Kesner, deceased filed a complaint on Nov. 30 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Dr. Saima Safdar, HSHS Holy Family Hospital Inc., et al., alleging negligence and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly evaluate and treat Kesner's respiratory complications and failed to order or engage a proper cardiologic consult with a qualified physician. As a result, Kesner suffered injuries resulting in his death on Dec. 2, 2015. 

The plaintiff seeks judgment against each defendant in a sum of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action. 

She is represented by Daniel F. Goggin in Greenville.
