EDWARDSVILLE – A Texas woman is seeking damages on behalf of her decedent following a rear-end collision in Madison County.
Yolanda Cox, as special administrator of the estate of Janis Pistolis, filed a complaint on Dec. 7 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Kayla M. Thomason, alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 9, 2015, Pistolis was driving eastbound on state Route 143 near the intersection of state Route 255 when her vehicle was struck in the rear by the defendant. The suit states Pistolis was injured and incurred medical expenses as a result.
The plaintiff alleges Thomason failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to adhere to posted traffic signals and signs and operated vehicle at a too high of a rate of speed.
The plaintiff seeks judgment for damages in an amount of more than $50,000 exclusive of interest, costs, attorney's fees and for such other relief the court may deem just and equitable.
