Former laborer names ABB Inc., others in asbestos injury suit

BELLEVILLE – A former laborer alleges asbestos exposure through a variety of products during his career caused him to develop lung cancer.

Eugene Consalvi filed a complaint on Nov. 13 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against ABB Inc., American Premier Underwriters Inc., Armstrong International Inc., et al., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that throughout his entire career from 1947 to 1980, he was exposed to and inhaled or absorbed large amounts of asbestos fibers emanating from certain products that were manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by defendants. He alleges that on or about March 21, he first became aware that he developed lung cancer, an asbestos-induced disease. 

The plaintiff holds ABB Inc., American Premier Underwriters Inc., Armstrong International Inc., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly intentionally included asbestos fibers in their products when they knew that it has toxic, poisonous and deleterious effect to humans and failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the dangers of working with or around asbestos-containing products.

The plaintiff seeks judgment be entered against defendants for a sum of more than $50,000. He is represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
