Woman sues over fatal Wood River motorcycle collision

EDWARDSVILLE – A woman is suing a motorist over a fatal motorcycle crash in Wood River. 

Kathla Marshall, as special administrator of the estate of Jonathon Marshall, deceased, filed a complaint on Nov. 17 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Robert Heaton citing the Wrongful Death Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 10, Jonathon Marshall was a passenger on a motorcycle traveling westbound on state Route 111 at the intersection of Charles Avenue in Wood River when the defendant's vehicle collided with the motorcycle, which caused Jonathon Marshall's death.

The plaintiff alleges Heaton failed to maintain proper control of his vehicle, failed to keep careful lookout and failed to yield at an intersection.

The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000 and costs of this action.
