Former Quality Rail Service employee alleges age discrimination

EDWARDSVILE – A Madison County employer is alleged to have terminated an employee because of his age.

Ricardo Shurman filed a complaint on Sept. 15 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Quality Rail Service Inc., alleging the employer violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he was terminated from his employment with the defendant when he was 56 years old. He alleges that during his employment, he was subjected to age discrimination.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant subjected him to unlawful discrimination, harassment, a hostile work environment and wrongful termination because of his age and for requesting benefits under the Family Medical Leave Act and workers' compensation.

The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000 plus costs of this action.
