Dispatcher sues Granite City, captain for alleged harassment

Wrongful term 09

EDWARDSVILLE — A dispatcher is suing Granite City and her captain for allegedly harassing her for participating in a whistleblower suit.

Tonya M. Beasley filed a complaint on Sept. 18 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Granite City and Craig Knight, alleging they violated the Illinois Whistleblower Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges the defendants intentionally harassed her in retaliation for participating as a witness in a whistleblower lawsuit.

As a result, she claims she endured pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life and sleeplessness.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for more than $50,000, plus costs of the action.

She is represented by John Stephen Brubaker of Law Office of Van-Lear P. Eckert PC in Belleville.
