EDWARDSVILLE – An Alton landlord alleges RIb City prematurely terminated its lease and failed to make payments.

Scott Adams, individually and doing business as H. Adams Development Co., filed a complaint on Sept. 7 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Craig M. Peden, Rib City Alton LLC, Rib City Group Inc. and Rib City Group LLC, alleging breach of lease.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he and the defendants entered into a lease agreement for an Alton property in February 2016. The suit states the lease was for a five year term ending in 2021.

Adams claims the defendants notified him of their intent to terminate the lease on Jan. 6. He also alleges they have failed and refused to pay rent according to the lease. The plaintiff alleges he has suffered lost rent in the amount of $275,000 because of the breach.

The plaintiff seek judgment against defendants of more than $50,000, attorney's fees, costs and any further relief as the court may deem just and proper.

He is represented by Rodney D. Caffey and Ralph J. Mendelsohn of The Caffey Law Firm LLC in Godfrey.
