Alton nursing home sued for negligence

EDWARDSVILLE — An estate administrator is suing several nursing home facility operators for allegedly failing to protect the patient from abuse and neglect. 

Shirley Richardson, as special representative and estate administrator of the estate of Laura Hensley Manns, deceased, filed a complaint on Aug. 28 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Alton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center LLC, Senior Healthcare Management LLC, et al, alleging they failed to provide proper medical. 

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that as a result of the defendants' negligence Manns suffered pressure ulcer, malnutrition, weight loss infection, sepsis and multiple organ dysfunction. She died Jan. 24, 2016. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to protect the decedent from abuse and neglect, failed to provide a safe environment and failed to properly monitor her food and water intake.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgement against defendants in excess of $50,000 and such other and further relief as the court deems just and proper. 

She is represented by Craig J. Jensen and Elizabeth A. Parker of Meyer Jensen PC in Alton.
