EDWARDSVILLE – A woman claims she tripped over a punching bag machine outside the women's restroom at a Wood River establishment, causing her to fall.

Pamela R. Nichols filed a complaint on Aug. 17 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Nightlife Promotions LLC, doing business as Brazz Monkee; and owners Bryan K. Maggart and Betty Adams, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she was a customer at Brazz Monkee in September 2015 when she tripped and fell over the platform of a punching bag machine and sustained severe and permanent injuries.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to place the machine in a safe place and allowed or permitted a tripping hazard to exist.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendants of more than $50,000 and costs of this suit.

She is represented by Gregory Tobin of Pratt & Tobin PC in East Alton, Illinois.
