Armstrong Pumps Inc., others named in suit by man who alleges asbestos exposure caused injuries

BELLEVILLE – A former laborer for Myers Roofing Contractors and US Steel alleges asbestos exposure caused his lung cancer.

Donald Jones and Pamela Jones filed a complaint on July 27 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Armstrong Pumps Inc., Aurora Pump Co., Beazer East Inc., BMI Refractory Services Inc., et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Donald Jones was secondarily exposed to asbestos-containing products during his career from the 1960s to 2003 and through two family members. As a result, he alleges developed lung cancer in January, an asbestos-induced disease that was wrongfully caused.

The plaintiffs holds Armstrong Pumps Inc., Aurora Pump Co., Beazer East Inc., BMI Refractory Services Inc., et al responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently included asbestos fibers in their products when adequate substitute were available and failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the safe methods of working with or around products containing asbestos fibers.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against defendants of more than $50,000, punitive and exemplary damages. They are represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
