Motorist alleges distracted driver caused collision in St. Clair County

Car accident 10

BELLEVILLE – A Millstadt woman is alleged to have been driving distracted when she struck another vehicle in St. Clair County.

Therasa Haynes filed a complaint on Aug. 17 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Ashley Mernick alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 16, 2016, she was stopped in traffic on Frank Scott Parkway when the defendant rear-ended her. She alleges she has suffered great physical and mental pain, diminished earning capacity and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Mernick failed to reduce speed to avoid collision and allowed a distraction to interfere with her driving.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant of more than $50,000, costs of suit and any further relief as the court deems just and proper.

She is represented by Patricia A. Zimmer of Ripplinger & Zimmer LLC in Belleville.
