Lawsuit claims chain-reaction crash caused injuries

BELLEVILLE – A motorist is suing over injuries she allegedly suffered in the course of a motor vehicle accident. She is citing negligence.

Kelsey Williams filed the suit March 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Benjamin J. King.

On April 5, 2014, the plaintiff was operating her vehicle northbound along Green Mount Road in Shiloh and was stopped, waiting to make a left turn, the suit says, adding that the defendant allegedly allowed his vehicle to collide with the rear of a vehicle operated by Felicia Adams. That collision propelled Adams' vehicle into the rear of the plaintiff's vehicle, the suit alleges.

The plaintiff was injured, as a result of the alleged negligence of the defendant. according to the suit.

That negligence includes the following, according to the complaint: the defendant failed to keep a careful lookout, allowed the front of his vehicle to collide with Adams' vehicle, which propelled Adams' vehicle in the plaintiff's vehicle, and was speeding for the existing conditions.

As a result, the plaintiff was injured in her head, neck and back; will suffer physical pain and mental anguish; incurred medical expenses and will continue to do so; her ability to work has been impaired; and her ability to enjoy life has been permanently damaged, according to the suit.

The plaintiff seeks a judgment in excess of $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Mark L. Floyd of The Floyd Law Firm PC in St. Louis.
