EDWARDSVILLE – A motorist is suing over injuries she allegedly suffered in the course of an automobile accident, citing negligence.

Lana Haldeman filed the suit March 15 in Madison County Circuit Court against Samantha Downing.

On June 6, 2014, the women were driving in separate cars, both going westbound on Illinois Route 140 in Bethalto, the suit alleges.

The defendant allegedly drove into the plaintiff's lane of traffic due to the following negligent actions, among others, according to the suit: failure to keep her automobile under proper control, failure to drive in her lane of traffic, failure to keep a proper lookout, failure to stop her automobile in time to avoid an accident and driving with inadequate brakes.

An ensuing collision caused the plaintiff external and internal injuries, pain and suffering, loss of a normal life, medical bills and property damage, the suit alleges.

The plaintiff seeks at least $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Michael P. Glisson of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
