Dupo woman sues dog owners over alleged dog attack

A Dupo woman is suing two dog owners, alleging injuries she suffered when she says their dog attacked her.

Brenda K. Bowder filed a lawsuit Dec. 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against dog owners Kristy Simpson and Raymond L. Schaub Jr., alleging negligence and violation of the Animal Control Act.

According to the complaint, on July 9, Bowder was in her yard with her dog when the defendants' dog attacked, struck down, bit and chewed on the plaintiff without provocation.

As a result, the suit says, Bowder has sustained permanent injuries to her left arm, right hand, upper back, right side and both legs, causing her to pay for medical treatment, which she expects will continue into the future. She also has sustained pain and mental anguish, lost wages and inability to pursue her employment, the suit states.

Bowder seeks from both defendants at least $50,000 for each count plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Gregory M. Skinner of Belleville.
