Pedestrian alleges injuries following East St. Louis accident

A St. Clair County woman is suing a motorist, alleging she suffered injuries when the defendant hit her as she was attempting to cross the street.

Breanna Poston filed a lawsuit on Nov. 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Tamara Lewis.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 2, Lewis was driving in East St. Louis when Poston was attempting to cross a street. Unexpectedly and without warning, the suit says, the defendant hit the plaintiff with her car, causing Poston severe injuries.

The lawsuit states the plaintiff has spent money seeking medical care and expects to do so in the future. She also expects the injuries to affect her ability to earn wages, the lawsuit states.

Poston, a minor at the time of the accident, seeks at least $50,000, plus court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorneys John T. Hipskind and Brady M. McAninch of Hipskind & McAninch in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 15-L-653.
