Patient sues dentist, alleging improperly installed bridges

A patient is suing a St. Clair County dentist and his practice, alleging she was injured when porcelain bridges were installed incorrectly.

Amy Brown filed a lawsuit on Oct. 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dr. Angela Tenholder and Smileology Dental.

The complaint states that Brown was a patient of Tenholder in 2012 and 2013. She claims part of the dental work performed was installation of porcelain bridges on the plaintiff's lower left and lower right sides of her mouth. However, Brown alleges the bridges were improperly installed.

As a result, the plaintiff claims she has suffered severe and permanent injuries to her teeth, jaw and mouth, causing jaw pain and dysfunction. These have forced the plaintiff to seek additional dental and medical treatment, the lawsuit states.

Brown seeks more than $75,000 from both defendants, plus court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorneys Ted W. Dennis and James R. Mendillo of Freeark, Harvey & Mendillo of Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 15-L-616.
