An Illinois woman claims she lost part of her finger when it was shut in a car door.
Christine L. Vogt filed the suit Oct. 23 in Madison County District Court against Anna Vinyard.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was in a parking lot in Alton on June 29, standing next to the defendant's vehicle with the door open. The suit claims the defendant was negligent in closing her vehicle's door. Vogt alleges the door closed on her hand, causing a partial amputation of the left index finger from the first knuckle to the fingertip.
As a result, the plaintiff has experienced pain and suffering, lost wages, loss of earning capacity, disfigurement and disability, and the outlay of monies for medical bills.
She seeks damages in excess of $50,000, court costs and attorney fees.
Rodney D. Caffey of The Caffey Law Firm in Godfrey represents the plaintiff.
