Passenger sues Staunton woman following roll-over car accident

A minor girl and her parents are suing a Staunton woman, alleging negligence for injuries the daughter sustained in a car accident.

Chelsea Willows, and her parents Michael and Gina Willows, filed a lawsuit on Oct. 26 in Madison County Circuit Court against Victoria Buck.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 7, 2013, Chelsea Willows was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Buck in Olive Township. The defendant was 16 at the time when she lost control of the vehicle, striking at least two trees and overturning the car, which ended upright, the suit says. Buck was ticketed for driving too fast for the conditions at the time.

As a result, the suit alleges, Chelsea Willows, suffered permanent injuries and irreparable harm to her mental and physical health.

Chelsea Willows seeks damages of more than $50,000, court costs and attorney fees. The parents seek the same to compensate the current and future medical expenses for their daughter. The family is represented by attorney Bill T. Walker of Granite City.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 15-L-1376.
