Driver and passenger sue another motorist for allegedly causing an accident

A man and woman claim they suffered injuries and medical expenses following a vehicle accident.

Joseph Betz and Karen Hill filed a lawsuit on Oct. 15 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Brett Canker claiming his negligence led to an accident leaving them both injured.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs claim that on April 28, while driving on IL-15 near South De Mazenod Drive, their vehicle was stuck from behind by a vehicle operated by Canker.

The plaintiffs allege Canker failed to keep a proper lookout and his negligence led to the accident leaving them both injured.

Betz claims he has incurred medical expenses of $5,980.73 and could incure more in the future. Hill claims she has incurred $3,816.17 of medical expenses and could incur even more.

Both are seeking compensation for injuries and damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional amount of $50,000 but less than $75,00 plus costs. The two are represented by Miczhel R. Swafford on St. Louis.
