A railroad engineer is alleging his supervisor's harassment as well as his fear of physical contact caused his heart attack and subsequent resignation.
Eddie McCandrew filed the lawsuit on Oct. 13 against the Illinois Central Rail Road Company and its subsidiaries in St. Clair County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants violated the Federal Employers Liability Act.
According to the complaint, McCandrew, a locomotive engineer with the Illinois Central Rail Road Co., claims he was harassed by his supervisor which caused his heart attack. Upon his return, he alleges the supervisor's harassment continued and he was forced to resign.
McCandrew is seeking past and future wages, penalties, punitive damages and attorney fees.
The plaintiff is represented by Charles W. Armbruster of Armbruster, Dripps, Winterscheidt, and Blotevogel of Maryville.
